this is probably in line with the previous post where I waxed on a bit about how amazing life would be if I could live my dreams of making it big.

I’ve always wondered about innovative stores and products and how people come up with those inventions, such as the coffee jacket and other such things you see young trendy designers coming up with. There’s a whole process to it too, from identifying a need (or creating one), to addressing the need, designing your product, marketing it and then selling it. Of course, having studied what I’ve studied, the marketing part is probably the part I’m most familiar with, but it’s the identifying/creating a need part that really defines the success of your product.

Such creativity and keen observation often eludes me and I find myself trying to see if there’s anything I could invent that would revolutionize the world… And today, I finally came upon a pretty awesome idea. Let me present…

THE YOU KEY!

.

What is it?

Basically the You key is a button on your keyboard that stores a catchphrase that you find yourself using most often, be it “LOL”, “what’s up” or “fuck off ninja turtle!” It acts like a Copy/Paste function, but stores the phrase you choose until you decide to replace it with something else or remove it. Depending on the logistics, you can possibly have a limitless number of characters stored in that key.

Whatever for??

Analyze your own ’speech’ patterns on the web. I’m pretty sure there’s a phrase you use pretty often that might take you more than a single keystroke to type. It could be “AWESOMESAUCE YO”, or “ROAR” or “FMLLL”, “YOU IZ A FAILZORZ” (no idea where these phrases came from) or y’know, those over-imitated ones like “MAD CHIO”, “KAWAII NE”, “DULAN TTM” etc..

Well, think of how much time you’d save if you could type that out with a single tap of a key, conveniently placed next to the alt/ctrl keys! And y’know it’s probably good for your health too. Motor skills and all that. It could double up as a special action key for computer games!! Woot!

Why on earth!?!?!

I only came upon this idea because I realized that in one day, I’d have to use the phrase “why, what happened!???” about 10xs at least.. For some reason (not that I’m complaining, more like I’m boasting). people like to come up to me on MSN and say stuff like, “omg i’m so pissed”, “wtf guess what” or “cher i’m so saaaadd” etc..

So the next 5678901332 times this happens, I could use the You key and respond in a flash! No more unnecessary typing time, no more cramping fingers. With just one keystroke, I could convey my personality and concern over the Interwebzzz and around the world!

People all over the world can now have MLIAs and FMLs about accidentally using the You key! Lovers could store special messages in their You keys for their partners! Spamming people has never been easier! With the You key, the sky’s the limit! Or at least, whatever the maximum character count is.

Long time no blog! I know some of you missed me, heh. Anyhoo, we’ll see what kinda reaction this entry gets because I’m not gonna waste time BLOGGING if Vlogging is way more popular (and I personally prefer vlogging to blogging lol).. Yea.. I actually have another video ready for uploadage but I thought I’d appease those who prefer Blogs before I post yet another vlog entry..

Heh. Alright, back to the topic of this blog! So really long ago, I wanted to share what it’s like to be a WRUB DJ! A few of you know this, I was a student DJ back in the day (ahem) when I was at UB (University at Buffalo, State University of New York).. It was honestly one of the best things I’d ever done..

So the other day I was just going through my old recordings of my show - the GQ Show.. And I felt very nostalgic.. So I thought I’d share what the process is like for each show =)

BEFORE EACH SHOW

Since the GQ Show is a Gossip-oriented show, I read up on all the gossip that happened in the days before the show and pick out interesting things that I want to talk about.. My pet issue during that time was the Brangelina-JAnistin drama so I more or less always found a way to squeeze that topic in.. =)

I also have to prepare a playlist on my Ipod of all the songs I wanted to play.. I’d do it in sets of 3 -1:

1. First song would be the “background music” track for a segment of talking – otherwise known as a Mic Break.
2. Song to play
3. Song to play

After 2 songs, I’d have to play a “cart”, which is better known as commercials, from the computer in the booth.. Then I play a piece from “rotation” – a set of music we have to choose from to play each hour.. So I’d line up a song after that.. And then repeat =) It eventually ends up in the first song being background music, then 3 songs, then background music, then 3 songs etc…

So generally I’d have about 5 sections of 3-1 per 1.5hr show.. Yep. Once I’ve prepared the playlist, I write down all the songs on a notepad so that it’s easier for me to announce the songs during each mic break..

DURING THE SHOW

1) Plug in Ipod and headphones

2) Using computer, play show intro cart (opening song for the show)

3) Play Ipod (background music), make sure sound volume is just right (see soundboard below! =)) and speak!

soundboard =) this was the old one though. A new one was installed in December. I used it for 2 weeks only =(

4) After talking and introducing upcoming songs, play songs.

5) Prepare cart to play and rotation pieces. Pick rotation pieces from CD wall..

6) Play cart followed by rotation piece.

7) Play remaining song.

8 ) Go to mic break with background music playing (adjust volume, etc)

9) Talk Gossip. If necessary, hold/host contest and give away prizes. Promo upcoming events =)

10) Repeat! =))

Yup, that’s more or less it. We also have fun events like WRUB Game Nights and WRUB Day and TOP40 day =) Those events are super fun and plus the people were awesome, which made everything even more fun. Gah I miss DJ-ing!! Heh.

光阴的故事

It’s a very sweet back-to-the-old-days kinda story about people living in the village areas of Taiwan from around the 1950’s all the way to modern day Taiwan.. It’s pretty long and draggy but the characters are endearing and funny (quirky would be a better word) and you’ll start to feel as if you know them after awhile.. In fact, before I started watching this show I thought it was pretty stupid but I started to watch it because I wanted to spend more time with my mom so I watched it with her (she likes it haha).. Now I’ve really developed a liking for this show and am watching the entire series on tudou, heh.

My favorite part of the show has to be the development of the relationship between characters 许毅源 (xu yiyuan) and 孙一美 (sun yimei).. The term for their relationship is the second part of my msn nick.. 美元恋FTW!!!  Haha minus the FTW of course.. I added that part. The guy’s name, Yi Yuan, sounds like One Dollar in Chinese, so they all call him Ji kou/r (which is one dollar in Taiwanese) .. The moniker for the couple is Mei Yuan, which means USD. Haha. Anyhoo, that aside, I really really really love this couple.

More accurately, I really really love how sweet Yi Yuan is to Yi Mei (the guy is to the girl).. I don’t believe that such a sweet guy exists (something I’ve mentioned in an earlier post)… He’s protective, loving, caring, thoughtful, sensitive, and just so much more!! Soooooooooo sweet omg.. Like the perfect boyfriend / husband!! *sighs*..

Hehe. Anyhoo, it’s a great show with solid acting (most of the time) and interesting characters. I love it and you might too! =) Go watch!

I live in a corner terrace in an estate with row upon row upon endless rows of houses backed up against each other. So it’s inevitable that you’re really really close to your neighbours.. In terms of proximity, that is.. We’re not close to our neighbours in terms of neighbourliness.. We’re alright with them..

Living in such proximity makes some things unavoidable, like when the lady from the row across my house decides to teach her son Math.. And they’re going “1+1 is?.. 1+2 is?… 1+3 is?…” and all the way to 25 or something..  I really have to bite onto a towel to not scream out “IT’S BLOODY 9876543245678 you MORON” at them.

That’s not the worst. My neighbour’s maid has the voice of a witchcathenhyena. That’s right. Her voice is like a cross between an alleycat with a sore throat and Kristen Chenoweth on helium. I swear, I’m not kidding. And the worst thing is, she loves to talk really loudly, and CACKLE. CACKLE!!! It’s so effing annoying I half-wish I was deaf. But most times I just wish she was mute.

These noises seriously get on my nerves.. And I’ve just thought of the perfect way to shut them up. I’m going to make a recording of SEX NOISES. You read that right. SEX NOISES. Loud moaning, groaning, climaxing, “HARDER HARDER” and all.. And I’m going to get some really good amps. The next time someone makes an annoying noise, I’m going to hook up my computer to the amps, move the speakers to my windows and BLAST the sex noises for a good half hour or so.

If that doesn’t shut them up, I don’t know what will. Then I’ll end off the sex noises with a preachy monologue on how if you don’t like the noises I’m making then you can jolly well move out. This might cause a mass exodus from my area seeing as it’s full of families with little children.. Ahh… Then it will be peace and quiet at last…

Love thy neighbour? I think so! Heh. So what other creative revenge ideas have you guys got??
