REALLY CRAZY OLD POST written last year, Sept 14.. but since I’ve been re-hooked on Goodreads and using it extensively to keep track of books i’ve read, am reading, or want to read, I thought I might post this:

So, i really should thank Caity for her getting me to join Goodreads =) I came across Goodreads quite awhile back, first on Snark, then subsequently when I Googled for books, and

(Yea that’s all I wrote back in the day.. Back in Sept2011.. Lol)

But in all seriousness, I’m lovin Goodreads and yea. For reasons. I’m not proving myself to be a great writer/blogger right now. I apologize. Good blog entry coming up. I sort of promise!

the best bra

i have a really good long philosophical post comin up that’s taking a bit of time to get written, but in the meantime, I’ve been very happy about a couple o’ bras I bought late last year that I only got around to wearing recently, and I’ve been somewhat gushing about them to Val. They’re underwire-free, but provide awesome support, are super soft and comfortable, look good and don’t show under tight shirts!

That got me to thinking about what the best type of bra was, and I decided my favorite type of bra is the handbra. Y’know, that one ala Janet Jackson’s 1993 Rolling Stones cover. See it’s awesome. It provides great support and doesn’t leave marks. Sure it doesn’t look fantastic under a tight shirt, but man it sure feels good, no?

Yea, just a random thought. Anyway, if you’re interested in knowing more about the -actual- comfy bras i’m talking about, leave a comment. =)

decision making

this is something i’m pisspoor at. i go back and forth, i decide, then change my mind, then decide, then change my mind.

i’ve recently had to make a rather sizeable decision.
.
i need to stress that i’ve not yet made up my mind. not all information is in yet.
.
.
but it’s been a shit few weeks. i wanted to put out a sound argument between the 2 major choices just so people know i have really been thinking this through. i’m not a dumbass. i’ve considered everything. also so that i can stop having to repeat the story.

Option A – aka the Typical Singaporean Option
Well-reputed
Good for future
In a nice ish place
Parental and familial approval

Freaking far away (will not return for gdfriend’s wedding)
Will be miserable
Competitive as hell – no time for me to catch up (i’ve seen profiles, i’m at the bottom of the pile)
Was just thinking it may turn me into the kind of person I spent the past 3 years hating – snobby arrogant elitist (even more so than I already am)

Option B – aka the Less Favored Option
Nearer
Happier
Hello, still reputable

If I were to be completely selfish, between the 2 I’d pick Option B – with me not considering the feelings of other people at all. but of course it wouldn’t be Option B per se.

But I feel like i should pick Option A because
- it would make more people happy
- it wouldn’t pressurize certain people
- people wouldn’t think i was being stupid
- some people would respect me more

And yea. It’s pretty much all about other people, other people, other people. And the thing is everyone feels like they should push me in a certain direction. And I only feel happy listening to people who pushed me in one direction. The other group of people only made me more miserable. It’s pretty shit.

Anyway. It’s all pretty messed up right now. Brain is not working very well right now. Will clean up this entry when I can.

If you have any thoughts on tough decisions, especially people like Caity (i know you’ve had really tough ones), do share.

i was looking at old tumblr entries of mine.. Things I posted when I was trying to achieve various goals over the past 2 years or so that I’ve had a tumblr account.. And I’ve suddenly realized that somehow, through all that pushing and working hard and spurring myself on with motivational quotes… I’ve achieved every single thing I’ve wanted to achieve.
.
It’s kinda overwhelming, but it proves something I’ve believed in since 2010. That if you put your mind to it, you can do practically anything.
.
And it’s kinda empowering and frightening at the same time.
.
And I think everyone should know that. There is nothing that you can’t work out or do or get through if you put in the effort, commitment and never give up.
.
That’s all for now. Time to continue working hard to achieve even more =) Toodles~

how to be really busy

amongst the many things i’m an expert at, being busy may just be most perplexing of them. my friends pretty much know (mostly) to only book me at least a week or two in advance, especially for special occasions, but there are still people who ask me out a day or two before and expect me to be free… in that situation if you are VERY lucky, I may be able to meet you. Otherwise.. Maybe just don’t ask me out. Or don’t expect me to be able to meet you.

Yea this just gets really bad when we’re planning to meet for birthdays and stuff and people try to pin me down for a date and it’s like all our available dates clash and it seems as if i’m the cause of it -__-”
.
So. How to have a busy and crazy tiring life? Well. I’d tell you how, but I really have to go now, so I’ll tell you next time. CIAO!

a really quick one coz this is a current issue and I don’t have much time to blog.

so you know how everyone has that one friend who has had no prior relationship experience but is the relationship expert to everyone? Yep, that’s me. I’m that person who’s never been in.. uh i don’t like the word Love, so shall we just say in “Like” =D.. Yea I’ve not been in a REAL relationship ever, but it constantly puzzles me when my friends turn to me for relationship advice..
.
Maybe because of my lack of experience, I tend to provide the most clarity and more balanced opinions. Anyways, I am here to discuss an issue that is at the core of many a relationship.. I’ve personally had to help/listen to friends who’ve faced this problem many times..
.
Typically occurring in a BGR, a couple finds themselves unable to find the middle ground when the girl feels like the boy ignores her/doesn’t contact her enough/ is too aloof/yada yada yada. The boy doesn’t see why he has to keep in constant contact with the girl, feels the girl is being clingy/needy, feels chained up etc
.
Sound familiar to you? Have you been in this situation before? Well I was just talking to a friend about this and here’s my take on the situation..

So, if I am right, how do you resolve this issue? Really, it depends on the couple. Trying to find a middle ground is the best, but I gotta say, I think this problem will only properly be solved if/when the couple start living together… See my explanation below..

i think that’s the bit that solves this problem
like when you live together, you know you will see him when u/he get(s) home
so you can go ahead and do ur thing in the day
and he can do his thing
and u 2 don’t really NEED to keep in touch during the day.. at the end of the day you get back to the same place and touch base
so that works out for both parties?

Haha ok I’m not proposing that couples who face this problem should MOVE IN TOGETHER. I’m just saying that.. Things work out.
Tip for girls: have a little faith, hang in there, don’t go nuts.
Tip for boys: be glad she even wants to hear from you, understand where she’s coming from, express your feelings once in awhile to reassure her so that she doesn’t go nuts.

met up with Ben yesterday and we made some really funny (read: awkward) videos! Since a few of you have asked for me to do a walking tutorial/vlog, I asked Ben to help me take some videos of me walking around in the mall we were in yesterday… And the effect……. Was not great….

A bit of the story behind this video first.. So I asked ben to help with the video, and I walked ahead in front of him. There happened to be a LOT of slow-walking people in front of me, so I did what I usually do, walk really quick to get around them. However, I forgot that ben was behind me “filming”… and pretty much looking like… a pervert….. And I looked like I was trying desperately to get away from him.. Hahhahaa. It was really, really awkward. Enjoy it below.

So we decided to take one front-facing walking video… And.. It wasn’t any less awkward..

Yea…. But I hope these videos have been informational, educational and, at the very least, entertaining.. haha. I may edit these videos to make a proper tutorial vlog some day but haven’t really had the time lately.

Ben and I also did a vlog! Teaching you how to speak Singlish =P We weren’t very prepared, though, so this video is a bit rambly. Enjoy!

And apologies for neglecting to blog.. I’ve been busy (as usual -__-”).. Traveling and shit. But more on that later..
.

A friend of mine recently started a blog. I was pretty keen to see what he would produce until I saw the entries and decided, being the competitive bitch I am, to best him at being… Shall we say… Mundane and obscure…
.
So I thought I’d do some entries on my more obscure skills, and racked my brains thinking of the boring things I knew. What? Did I say boring? I meant obscure.
.
After eons spent thinking of things I am good at or enjoyed doing that weren’t typical or common, I came up with the following list:

Things I am good at that not many other people are good at

Being Awkward
Feigning Interest in things
Faking things
Being obsessive and paranoid
Walking
Getting lost

The only thing I can really tell other people about is walking. I have this fantastic ability to walk in a variety of ways. Here are the ways I can walk:

Cherlynn’s patented styles of walking (in order of frequency of use)

1) Normal walking
- Usually seen only at home or in friends’ homes where amount of walking required is minimal
2) Walking and tripping
- Walking and tripping over air pockets
- Walking and tripping over own feet
- Walking and kicking/injuring self
- Walking and tripping over actual obstacles
3) Walking to music
- Walking to emo music – as if you are in a Music Video
- Walking to dance music – as if you are on a runway
- Walking and trying to change the music in iPod (often results in Walking style #2)
4) Walking in crowds (mostly involves putting on pissed-off face and stomping around, nudging people out of the way)
- Walking behind slow people
- Walking behind people who stop abruptly in the middle of nowhere
- Walking with a destination in mind

5) Walking in malls
- Usually a combination of 2+4
- Walking in circles
- Walking towards random items on display with no regard for obstacles in path
- Walking without regard for companions

I can totally give tutorials on all the above. Let me know if you want any tutorials on my patented styles of walking!

ABPAD #29 – confusing boobage

Basically, I watched the movie “Some Like It Hot” the other day, and, starting from the scene where Marilyn Monroe sings “I Wanna Be Loved By You” , she wears a really odd dress that’s backless and clingy and glittery (and i’m guessing gold in color but the movie was in black and white). The backlessness of the dress requires that she not wear a bra, and in this dress, she spends a part of the movie running around to docks and ships and stuff, tits a-bouncing every which way.

And it was, overall, a really odd and distracting experience for me. Part of me was going, “Wow, it’s Marilyn Monroe! She’s sooooooooo sexy!!” and another part of me was like, “Uhm.. yea..” *looks down at chest* “Yea… No bra… what??” I think my biggest issue with it was how naked she looked lol. And that despite that she ran around without regard, as if she were in a nudist film or something. Not that I have anything against it, or that it was BAD.. It was just unsettling to me.. lol.

I will not deny, though, Marilyn Monroe is still one of the sexiest women to ever have been on screen; I especially loved the way she interpreted “I Wanna Be Loved By You” – the breathy and babytalk way she did it was so awesome!
